Practicing PicturesA compilation of photos intended to exert my growth as a photographer. Abiding by the notion practice makes perfect, my sporadic weekly posts to the "Practicing Pictures" page is meant as a canvas for me to practice different styles and compositions in photography.
While the foundation of my photography started in a high school digital photography class, I'd argue most of my progression is due to forcing myself to take photos and post them, keeping in mind the images have to be photos worth showing off. Hopefully, you think so, too. |
Duluth Views TribuneVeiled behind Duluth's history of economic downturns, port city rust and wicked cold winters is a Northland gem. It's not just the abundance of untamed forest and wildlife thriving in northern Minnesota that's worth seeing. The city is caught in the middle of the blue collar culture of the 90's and the tertiary sector of healthcare it has transitioned into. That dichotomy is on full display in places like Canal Park.
While the city's residents may identify by what side of Lake Avenue they live on, their underlying allegiance is to their twin-port community. That I can appreciate. Title a blog modeled off its hometown newspaper, and you'll understand the root of its inspiration. |
Barely BloggingSee all that chest hair? My mom hates it. The slightest bit of push back I gave her was met with a tsunami of dislike and disapproval from adjacent family members.
"Who the hell would put such a ratty photo on their LinkedIn profile?" You don't see too many smiles of Jack that show teeth. Especially ones that are technically posed. If an image as genuine as this doesn't belong on my work profile, then surely a blog will fit. I can't argue my thoughts will be any more ordered than the tangled mess beneath my chin, but I find them worth reading. Not intended for any particular demographic, some of my blogging my be meant more as verbal catharsis for myself. I think I have words worth writing down and I want to express those to rest of the world. Whether they're worth reading is up for debate. |
