Photo 10: Women's March ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/200 F-Stop: 5.6 I promise this isn't a Gretchen Whitmer plug, she's just the lucky benefactor of timeliness and relevancy at the women's march. That's right! I got to cover a protest for the Metro Times! And there was much rejoicing. The posters were poignant and witty, the attire was pink and proud. And I got to capture all of it on camera.
There are three windows in this photo. The first is the window I've provided the viewer through my lens. Out-of-focus articles of clothes, heads and posters crowd the framing. The second window is the iPhone camera filming the rally. What my photo misses the video recording that's showing on the person's phone helps us understand contextually what is happening. The last window is on the door in the background. Less metaphorical. I took a lot of photos at the rally. When you're photographing emphatic voters who carry a chip the size of the entire history of gender oppression on their shoulders, you're going to get good opportunities. Thankful I was there to digitize that emotion.
