"Oh me? I was at a conference this week," he said apathetically, as if to imply it was no big deal. But it was a big deal. It was his first ever invitation, all expenses paid (not really) work weekend spent away from campus. This little vacation was in Pittsburgh where I attended a few speakers and got to visit sites like the Flight 93 memorial and Frank Lloyd Wrights Fallingwater.

What's best exemplified in this photo's composition is the smooth transitions between concrete, sky and Earth. If I was a little taller, I would have been able to line up the end of the monument where it meets the horizon perfectly. Although, if my Photoshop skills were better, it may have not mattered.

I'd like viewers to consider the contrast of man to nature in this photo. The duality of rigid, cold cement created by people next to the warm splashes of color on rolling hills and layered vegetation create a beautiful narrative that pays tribute to the members of Flight 93.
