I like this house. I like the faded sky blue foundation and how it contrasts with the snow and white painted paneling. I'm also a fan of the creepy branches mangling and meandering in front and around of the house. I also like this house because it was part of my first story with the Metro Times.

Also, when I was taking pictures, the man who runs the homeless encampment next to the house told me "You a brave man for going around there and taking pictures!" That's not the most comforting thing to hear when you're sent to "the bad part of Detroit" and interviewing homeless people in negative 20 degree weather.

Most of the houses on Mt. Elliott St., Zender Place and Pulford St. look like this. It was hard to tell which had residents and which were vacant. Paint was chipping off, windows and doors were off their hinges and porches were missing their banisters. From motor city mecca to derelict Detroit is a hard thing to observe.
